Journey to Recovery Community Center is proud and excited to announce:

Alexis Carpenter has been named the new Board Chair at Journey to Recovery Community Center. Alexis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. Alexis M Carpenter is the Founder, Raising Hope LLC, Motivational Speaker, and Author of Changing The Reflection: The Faces We Wear And The Truths They Hide. But, her most importantly role is a Youth Mentor committed to, guiding at-risk teens and young adults (16–26) to heal trauma, rebuild confidence, and become leaders who disrupt cycles of homelessness, addiction, and incarceration using the CODE REBUILD™ method, even if they’ve struggled their entire life.

Outside of her work she’s a proud mom of four, a wife, and graduate student pursuing a masters in clinical social work with a focus on individuals and families. And the quiet moments she saves for herself are often filled with coffee, books, and writing.

Journey to Recovery Community Center has expanded the scope of services over the last few years. Journey to Recovery works in middle and high schools, in the Northeastern Correctional Facility, in the probation and parole office in Newport and has a robust Parents in Recovery program. Journey to Recovery provides peer-led, trauma-based care that empowers individuals, families, and communities whose lives are impacted by substances. Alexis is looking forward to her leadership role as Board Chair, working alongside Executive Director Lila Bennett to further develop systems, streamline processes and continue to grow the center with a structured, community based and human centered approach.
