Let the "summer" field season begin!

Allison Hrycik, with the help of many lab members, spent the past two days setting up an under-ice experiment on Shelburne Pond. Allison is testing what drives phytoplankton production under ice. During the summer, zooplankton grazing in important in limiting phytoplankton growth, however it is hypothesized that light limitation is the primary limitation for phytoplankton growth in the winter. Allison’s research will help shed “light” on this under ice mystery.
