The Harnett County Board of Commissioners has vacancies on the following board:

Harnett County Library Board of Trustees
– Boone Trail Community Representative
– Anderson Creek Community Representative
– At-Large Representative from District 1

▶ Requirements
The Boone Trail representative must reside in the Boone Trail community. The Anderson Creek representative must reside in the Anderson Creek community. The District 1 representative must reside in Harnett County, District 1.

▶ Function of Board
The Harnett County Library Board of Trustees is an advisory board to the Library. The Board makes recommendations on policy to local government and acts as a liaison between the library, local government, and the community. The Board promotes library service in general and assists in the development of the County Library System and library service throughout Harnett County.

The Board cooperates with and supports the programs of the Harnett County Library System, the North Carolina Library Association, and the North Carolina State Library, and helps unify library action at all levels in North Carolina. The Board provides an effective means of influencing local support for passage of adequate library legislation and promotes complete use of the library facilities and resources.

▶ Meetings
The Board meets quarterly on the fourth Wednesday of January, April, July, and October.

✍️ County citizens wishing to be considered may submit an application to the County Manager’s office at 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington, NC or fill out an application online at https://nc.harnettlibrary.org/hcpl-board.
