In this class, you’ll make your own letterpress tarot or oracle card, while learning how to use the platen press or various proof presses in the Book Arts Studio to make small prints. Summer is here and we’ve got ZINES on the mind! Join us this week for two workshops great for zinemakers. (And perhaps even a good way to start prepping for the 2026 ZineFest in August?? Details to come very soon!)
Here’s Laura and Jordan selling their wares at the last ZineFest!
ABOUT JUNK JOURNAL ZINE MAKING
A “junk journal” is a book filled with personal and recycled materials. We’ll be making a zine full of our own “junk.” Collect receipts, cards, notes, tags, etc: anything that catches your eye or your heart. Bring these items to Book Arts and together we’ll each create our own “junk” zine full of our collected items.
ABOUT JORDAN
Jordan Roth (she/they) is a storyteller, curator, and zine-maker based in Western New York. Through collage, photography, painting, and other forms, they create art from an intersectional q***r and feminist perspective.
ABOUT THE COPIER & BEYOND
In this class we’ll explore a variety of techniques to customize books, zines and other paper crafts. This class is perfect for zine makers, artists, teachers, collage artists, and anyone looking for fast, clever ways to make your creations stand out.
Some techniques covered will include: photocopy transfer, stencil making, acrylic lift (transfer images from magazines & other paper based media to create copies), and rubber stamp carving.
ABOUT LAURA
