Basic White Sandwich Bread
Making bread in a bread machine is extremely easy. Nothing beats the ease of throwing ingredients in the machine and pushing the start button. A few hours later you have a delicious amazing hot loaf of bread.
This particular recipe is great because it does not have perishable ingredients, so it is safe to use with the timer. Literally put ingredients in the machine before bed, set the timer, push start and you wake up to fresh baked bread.
A question I get often is why nonfat dried milk.
Milk is added to bread for flavor, a tender crumb and well-colored crust. You can substitute fluid milk in the same quantity if thats all you have.
Dry milk is used because it easy to store and easy to use in bulk. Milk also contains an enzyme called glutathione which can weaken gluten and result in a poorer quality loaf - the drying process destroys this enzyme. Dry milk is really the way to go if you are going to bake often, which you should!! This bread is delish !


Basic Loaf of White Bread- 2 lb

( for bread machine)

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups water

• 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk

• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

• 2 tablespoons granulated cane sugar

•2 tablespoons vegetable oil

• 3 1/2 cups bread flour

• 1 tsp bread machine or instant yeast.

Directions:

•Put in bread machine pan in order given. When you get to yeast, make a small well with your finger in the flour and pour yeast in well.

• Secure pan into bread machine. Follow directions for basic loaf. Select crust darkness. Push start.

• When bread machine is done baking. Carefully remove pan with oven mitts. Turn out on cooling rack. Bread paddle may stick in loaf. If it does let loaf cool before removing.

• Store bread in a plastic bag or container. It has no preservatives and will get stale quicker than store bought bread.

Use up your holiday leftovers. Food is too expensive to waste! Instead recreate. Use leftovers as prepped ingredients. Crudite veggies. Bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots mixed with leftover cooked,chilled beautiful jumbo pink shrimp and sliced onion all stir-fried together with hoisin sauce. Beautiful easy healthy delicious restaurant quality meal.
