This morning, I had the pleasure of joining my friends from the NYS Building & Construction Trades Council. Organized labor is the backbone of our communities here in WNY, and it was great to hear about how we can create stronger opportunities for workers across our region and state.

Then came Sandy Hook. Pulse. Uvalde. The Tops shooting right here in Buffalo. Shreveport, where 8 children were gunned down just yesterday. And countless communities in between.

Congress has failed to protect the American people over and over again. Background checks, red flag laws, and an assault weapons ban are commonsense solutions that the American people overwhelmingly support.

Congress must act, and I won’t stop fighting until we do.
