So proud of our second year graduate student and ASHA student leader Aliyah Hodges who participated in Hill Day, where ASHA members meet with congressional representatives to advocate for multiple CSD-related bills. She and Tim Kennedy discussed the LEAP Act, a bill he is introducing that would ensure that audiologists and SLPs can access higher loan limits next year to help pay for their professional degrees. With such staffing shortages, it is important that there are no barriers to those seeking out our profession.

This week, first year student clinicians learned the importance of behavior modification strategies at a local elementary school. After a “rowdy” first day, the clinicians saw how increased positive praise, colorful visuals, and agenda, and a friendly kids vs clinicians points system can turn around a session and have a deep impact on our clients.
