I want to remind fellow investors to always focus on helping homeowners and their families. Today a man called from one of my pre-foreclosure direct mail campaigns. His mother, whose Alzheimer's is getting worse, had gotten 3 months behind on mortgage payments but family just brought the loan current.
A daughter has moved in and will most likely keep the house after they move their mom into long-term care. So, there's not much chance that I can buy the house. But, rather than just end the call, I asked him what else they needed.
He said his Mom went on crazy shopping sprees after the Alzheimer's started, maxing out her credit cards and they can't keep up with those bills. I put them in touch with a credit pro who can help negotiate the card balances down.
I feel really good about having resources to be able to assist the family! If someday they do decide to sell, maybe they'll remember me; maybe not. But I hope this small action makes their challenges a bit easier. They are going through Hell and surely need a leg up!
