Don’t miss this year’s Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival on Sept. 19 and 20! Dance companies and choreographers from across Texas are coming to campus to celebrate contemporary dance.

Hosted by the Dance Science program in the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts, this festival was founded in 2007 by Carisa Armstrong, associate professor, and Christine Bergeron, academic undergraduate program director.

Skye Todaro will present “Table for One (No More)” at the Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20.

The theatrical contemporary solo traces the journey from lonely dinners and daydreams to the sweet and slightly dramatic arrival of love. The piece blends humor, expressive gesture and full-bodied movement to explore the awkward, beautiful and absurd emotions of waiting — and finally not having to wait alone.

Todaro, a Bryan native, holds a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and a B.A. in Psychology from Southern Methodist University. She has performed works by choreographers including Robert Battle, Take Ueyama, Caleb Teicher, Joy Bollinger, Pat Taylor, Joshua L. Peugh and Terrill Mitchell. Now based in New York City, Todaro is a member of Yaroque Dance Theatre. She is expanding her work as a freelance artist by continuing to perform while debuting her own choreography.

The Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival is an annual concert that brings together companies and choreographers from across the state and beyond.
