Summer Energy Tip ☀️

Did you know some everyday appliances can make your home warmer during the summer?

Appliances like ovens, dryers, and dishwashers generate heat that can make your cooling system work harder during the hottest parts of the day. Making small adjustments to when and how you use them can help keep your home more comfortable this summer.

Consider using heat-producing appliances during cooler hours of the day when possible!

TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨

E. Villa Maria Road between Cavitt Ave. and Texas Ave. will be closed Sunday, June 14, between 9-10 A.M. and intermittently from 1-4 P.M. while BTU crews make necessary updates to the utility infrastructure in the area. For the safety of the public and the crews working on the job, this work must be done during daylight hours.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes to their destinations during these times.

We apologize for any inconvenience these closures will cause, and appreciate your patience as we make necessary improvements that will allow us to continue to provide reliable and affordable power to the community.

Texas heat and your electricity bill tend to rise together during the summer months☀️

Keeping both under control starts with a few simple habits at home:

• Keep blinds and curtains closed during the hottest part of the day
• Change air filters regularly to help your A/C run more efficiently
• Use ceiling fans to help circulate cool air
• Avoid running large appliances during peak afternoon heat
• Set your thermostat gradually instead of drastically lowering the temperature

Small changes can help your home stay comfortable while reducing unnecessary energy use this summer.

BTU is here to help you stay cool all season long!
