for those of you that follow peach pools I'd like to wish you a happy New Year. while we are waiting for this cold weather to get here most of my customers if not all of them are their timers are set to run night time setting which is typically from 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. or midnight to noon. if you are concerned about the cold and that setting is not good for you just take your timer clips off and turn your pump on and let it run. automated systems should be set to run to come on for freeze protection from 35° to 40 degrees somewhere in that temperature range. if that concerns you then put it in service mode turn your filter pump on and let it run it'll run until you change it so everything will be freeze protected there is no need to run your cleaner pumps let them run normal. stay warm out there

okay peach pool people and all your others listening out there it is getting to that time of year where you have warm days and cool nights and your water in your pool is still warm keep in mind you're going to have evaporation got to keep the water level up.

Getting a lot of phone calls about the weather and the water rising in the pools. Two thoughts here: your pool is going to fill up anyway so don't worry about the water, the other problem is your pumps and equipment. If it bothers you that the rising water is going to trip the breakers and shut your equipment down (which means they will not come back on until I turn them on) then go ahead and shut the breakers off going out to your equipment. In either case do not turn them back on until at least 2 days after the water recedes or you'll burn your pumps up. If you have any questions please give me a call. Be safe everybody. This is going to be a wild one.

Let's talk for a minute about black algae you seem to be getting a lot of it lately so I'll explain to you how this works. If you have a saltwater pool and it's just going along happy and everything's cool and then you get a whole bunch of rain if you're stabilizer for cyanuric acid is low at that time you've just depleted it and which case now black algae is going to bloom you use trichlor to fight back the black algae after you brush the black heads off it reveals a green flower and if you drizzle some trichlor on top of that the black algae will go away it may take a couple applications to cause this to happen then you need to make sure your stabilizer is the right level as we go around after all this rain first thing we check is the stabilizer make sure that it's the correct level. Then we treat for the black algae it takes a couple applications it's not a magic act.
If you have a tricor pool all that rain should have been good for it because of this point you should be going through probably a pound to 2 lb of tricor a week and that's loaded with stabilizer so you got any questions give me a call or you can text me and I can go into it further have a blessed day
