PSA: There will be a free electronics recycling event this Saturday from 9AM to 1PM at the Glynn Place Mall, by the old Ruby Tuesday. It’s a great way to get rid of old computers, printers, TVs, and those boxes of cables in your garage.

However, if you’re considering recycling an old computer that may have had sensitive information stored on it at one time (tax returns, CC information, SSN, etc…), we strongly recommend you remove and destroy the internal hard drives first, so that some other party cannot later retrieve that information and use it for nefarious purposes. The hard drives / storage drives are the only part of the computer that permanently stores your data, everything else can be safely and simply discarded at a recycling center. We do offer this as a service as well, so if you have an old computer that you’d like to get rid of but don’t feel like going through the process above, bring it to us and we can remove and destroy the hard drive and recycle the computer for you.
