Beltane is one of the most ancient and sacred festivals of the old world, deeply rooted in the traditions of the Celtic tradition. Celebrated on May 1st, it marks the peak of spring and the awakening of life in its most fertile, vibrant form.

Historically, Beltane was a fire festival. Great bonfires were lit across the land to honor the returning strength of the sun and to bless the earth, the animals, and the people. In ancient times, cattle were driven between twin fires for protection and purification, a ritual believed to guard them from illness before the summer grazing season.

The name “Beltane” is often connected to the god Bel (or Belenus), meaning “bright” or “shining one.” The fires of Beltane were seen as sacred flames of life, passion, and divine energy.
