The Cristo Rey Brooklyn community mourns the recent passings of Sr. Pat Vetrano, RSM and Fr. Joe Parkes, SJ—two individuals who played integral roles in Cristo Rey Brooklyn’s history.
Sr. Pat was the President of the Mercy Sisters when Cristo Rey Brooklyn was looking for a new home in 2012 and is a primary reason the Sisters of Mercy are our religious endorser and that we can carry out our mission on E. 37th St. in East Flatbush.
Fr. Parkes was the founding President at Cristo Rey New York and had an influential impact on the viability of Cristo Rey Brooklyn in its early days providing counsel and guidance in all aspects of the Cristo Rey model—and most importantly connecting us to our long-time President, Mr. Bill Henson.
Let us hold these two remarkable servants of God in special prayer and thanksgiving. 🙏🏼✝️🕊️
