I’m very honored to have my work ‘VVD21’ cited in my dear friend Habeen Chang’s newly published essay ‘Rhythm Games: A Performance Practice of Play’ in the book Global Histories of Video Game Music Technology! I never imagined that video games could become such an integral part of my career.

A note about my current release Divine Pivot on with Leo Chang and Evan Palmer —that I finally have time to write about. The recording is available on all evil platforms…
I’ll start with this — the best way to listen to this work is to follow the exact track order without skipping around. You might notice the first track is titled Ex-In and the last In-Ex—this represents a process moving from the external body inward, and then back out again. The tracks in between are titled with abbreviations that may seem cryptic at first.
These titles are abbreviations of the 十二經脈 (twelve meridians) in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The track order reflects the internal flow of these meridians through the body. I worked carefully with our engineer Bob to structuralize the listening experience as a framework that illustrates the meridians’ interrelationships through 表裏 (exterior–interior) relationships—between zang organs (associated with yin meridians) and fu organs (associated with yang meridians).
So, the Ex/In relationship in the titles doesn’t just describe the flow of life force from outer to inner body—it also reflects the interplay between paired organs and meridians, and ultimately, any phenomenon we encounter in everyday life.
As you listen, you may notice that some tracks flow directly into the next, carry elements forward, or reflect on what came before. Ultimately, they are all interconnected, shaped by an unimpeded and continuous energy.
