The full digital album of Bluery the Explorer’s third album, Clear Blue Mind, is out today! The vinyl release will be along in the summer.
We are very excited about this project and invite you to read on to hear about what makes this project so special. Enjoy!
Exploratory music project, Blurry the Explorer unveils its third album, Clear Blue Mind. A vibrant, genre-defying collection born from improvisation, coincidence, and creative discovery in Rio de Janeiro. Recorded at the legendary Marini Studio in the Botafogo neighborhood, the 10-track album expands the project’s borderless sonic world with contributions from an international cast including Rodrigo Amarante (Brazil), Tenniscoats (Japan), Annakalmia Traver (Rubblebucket, Kalbells), and Lola Parda (Argentina).
Following tours and intensive work with legendary Brazilian producer Kassin, Gustin assembled core collaborators Ricardo Dias Gomes (Caetano Veloso), guitarist Ryan Dugre (Rubblebucket, Joan As Police Woman), and producer/guitarist Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Paul Simon) for focused but spontaneous recording sessions embracing intuition, chance, and the joy of not knowing where the journey leads.
“More often than not, the songs are born out of improvising over simple ideas one of us brings,” Gustin explains. “We always leave space for...something. This unknown element is always exciting and confusing.”
The album’s diverse vocal palette creates what Gustin describes as “a full world of colors, shapes and sounds.” From Rodrigo Amarante’s intimate storytelling to Tenniscoats’ ethereal harmonies, Annakalmia Traver’s expressive range, and Lola Parda’s haunting beauty, each voice brings distinct character to the sonic journey. Vocalists Katy Pinke, Lip Talk, Tall Juan, and Tigra Rose (recorded in a Bali hostel after a traditional Hindu puppet show) round out the international ensemble.

Today, a new cycle begins! Thirty years in with an album that looks forward while reclaiming its origins.
Ten years after his last release, the acclaimed Fortaleza, Fernando Catatau returns with Cidadão Instigado, a self-titled album that marks both the 30th anniversary of the project and the beginning of an entirely new creative phase, conceived and led by Catatau alone. The record is out now through the RISCO label in partnership with Nublu Records.
This is not a retrospective. It is a reinvention that knows exactly where it comes from.
How It Was Made
The album was born from Catatau’s inner world during pandemic isolation, a period of heightened introspection that collided unexpectedly with a new obsession: a Roland MV-8800 sampler, newly acquired, that sent him deep into the universe of beats and electronic music. He built tracks for what he calls “unconventional dancers,” navigating the mental and sensory turbulence of the moment with the discipline of someone who had been making music for three decades.
The result speaks directly to contemporary urban life and the cultural multiplicity of the Brazilian metropolis. Electronic timbres and digital noise merge with a way of singing that belongs to the street, the dance floor, the random late-night walk, and the underground dive, always in counterpoint to the natural world: moon, clouds, sea, air. Present and futuristic. Profound and dancefloor-ready.
The Collaborators
The album brings together a constellation of artists that spans generations and scenes. Among the featured voices and musicians: Juçara Marçal, Mateus Fazeno Rock, Jadsa, Ava Rocha, Yma, Kiko Dinucci, Edson Van Gogh, and Anna Vis, alongside long-standing collaborators Régis Damasceno, Dustan Gallas, Clayton Martin, and Rian Batista. Each was chosen because they speak directly to Catatau’s creative world, participants in the process, not additions to it.
