Thank you to this giant crew for helping me celebrate our 10th Fall Camp Workroom Social! We had the best time learning, sewing, crafting, walking Frost Valley's Haunted Trails, challenging ourselves in all sorts of ways, and making new friends. Camp is so special because of the kindness, generosity, and enthusiasm that these folks share with all of us. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Camp Workroom Social is just one aspect of my work to create supportive, non-competitive, welcoming, educational, and joyful experiences for sewists. Year-round I host weekly virtual events in my online community called Social Sewists. Consider joining us at http://socialsewists.com.

Here’s what we're getting up to this summer.

🐝 Live Sewing Bee: Our members compete live in a virtual mystery sewing challenge! For those who don't want to compete, everyone's welcome to attend our showcase event on August 3 to see the projects created.

🪡 Community Sewing Sessions: Each month we work on our projects together on Zoom.

☀️ Caftan Sewing Challenge: Members could choose their own caftan pattern or follow our on-demand video sew along for the Charlie Caftan.

🏅 Show-and-Tell Celebration: On July 31 we'll feature all our members' caftan creations in this inspiration-filled event.

🌆 In-Person Meetup: We visited the Statement Sleeves exhibition at the Museum at FIT in NYC.

👩🏻‍💻 Coworking and Open Sew Events: We had 6 virtual and in-person sessions at Workroom Social, and we hope to host more of these throughout the year.

🚨 Office Hours: Members can schedule personalized sewing and fitting help as needed.

💐 Skillshare Workshop: We learned to make fabric boutonnières from scraps thanks to one of our members. All members are invited to host skillshares, and I work with everyone to support their workshops.

Patchwork and Quilting for Garment Sewing is a comprehensive virtual course taught in 2 sections. Students can enroll in the full course, or in the sections individually.

In Section 1: Creating Patchwork and Quilted Textiles, you'll…

🔵 Learn to choose the right fabrics, battings, and backings for your quilted garment.
🟠 Explore basic color theory to design patchwork (using quilting patterns) in your personal style.
🟣 Learn essential patchwork and quilting techniques like piecing, matching corners, nesting seams, and quilting on your home sewing machine.
🟡 Make your own custom patchwork and quilted textiles!
