🐾 This Thursday, 6/26, NYC Council is holding a hearing on the bill to launch a Pet Food Pantry Pilot Program—and we need your voice! 🐶🐱

The bill, Intro 1172 by Council Member Robert Holden, would create a city-run pet food pantry to help low-income New Yorkers care for their animals and prevent families from being forced to surrender their beloved companions due to financial hardship. ❤️

Thanks to YOUR calls and emails, we already have a supermajority—35 co-sponsors! But hearings like this are where real change happens—and it’s a reminder that contacting your legislators truly makes a difference.

📞📬 Speaking up for animals works.

How old is this kitten?

A reminder that we're in the full swing of kitten season: the time of year when most kittens are born.

During this time, well-meaning people who find kittens outdoors may attempt to help by bringing them to shelters. However, the upsetting truth is many kittens brought to shelters, especially those who are less than four weeks old and need round-the-clock care, will be killed there.

Now is the time to spread knowledge on how to determine a kitten's age, to Leave Them Be with their mother cat, and how to care for them in the event that they DO need human intervention. Our resources are here to help: alleycat.org/FoundAKitten
