Continuing my Spanky Alford rabbit hole and revisited an old clip of him playing with Dangelo and Raphael Saadiq on the Tonight Show. Thought it interesting that Isaiah Sharkey also specifically mentioned this clip as one that inspired him to transcribe it as well.

Despite its name, Spring Garden Lane might just be the perfect song for the fall season. These are perhaps my favorite chords from Thoughts on Home and Symmetry. I still remember piecing together this progression and it lowkey took ages. I had been sick of playing the same old chords at the time and challenged myself to play progressions I don’t normally play, and was stumped for a long time figuring out the turnaround back to the first chord. Anyway, here’s a stripped down version of just the guitar chords.
