After having a baby, or several, (or even for men) after stomach / abdominal surgeries, it is possible to have your abdominal muscle have separated.

When this happens it is hard to do core/ab workouts and achieve the results you think will happen. The issue is that the organs behind the abs are not being held in anymore and pushing the abs apart.
