Psss… have you heard? Sense & Sensibility opens tomorrow at UGA’s Fine Arts Theatre. Here’s some sneak peaks at the designs you’ll see on Stanley A. Meyer set design! Direction by Rachel May of Synchronicity Theatre

These two men…creative founts, generous and witty beyond measure…BOTH very influential to my career and form as a designer in very different ways, moved on from this terrestrial plane recently. Classes with JOHN Conklin were such a complete 180* from any previous experience. He opened the conversation of scenic design to realms I had never considered or thought possible. Design no longer ONLY meant research and physical limitations… but contemplation, metaphor, and FRESH approaches to support-but also EXCITE the narratives being presented. To be in MARTIN Izquierdo’s studio was to be in one of the most creative and often debaucherous spaces in the city! A mix of bohemian Warhol-like vibe, populated with 90’s club kid orphans, a bass thumping sound system, and after-hour liquor (and other intoxicants) all the while birthing incredible works. I count myself EXTREMELY FORTUNATE to have had BOTH in my life. God speed, John and Martin.

Not wanting my hand to get rusty during the ‘Rona... trying out new liquid watercolors from Dr. Martin. ( I think I like them 👍)
