Wisconsin Adopt A Golden Retriever

Share

WAAGR is an all-volunteer animal rescue dedicated to rehoming Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes. We have no paid staff and rely on donations and fundraisers to help provide for a safe and happy life for Golden Retrievers that need a new home. All of our dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers until they are ready to be adopted. This process includes medical treatment and behavioral training as needed. All of our dogs are neutered/spayed, and microchipped before being adopted.

Hydration Tips 🚰
-Keep fresh, clean water available at all times.
-Add a few ice cubes to their water bowl on hot days.
-Feed canned/wet food or add a splash of water to kibble (if appropriate).
-Bring water and a portable bowl on walks, hikes, or road trips.
-Make sure your pet has access to shade and takes frequent breaks when outdoors.

Signs Your Pet May Be Dehydrated⚠️
-Dry or sticky gums
-Sunken or dull looking eyes
-Excessive panting
-Lethargy or weakness
-Loss of appetite
-Skin that doesn't quickly return to normal when gently lifted (decreased skin elasticity)

If you notice any of these signs, or if something just doesn't seem right, don't wait. Early treatment can make all the difference.

Our state and many other areas are dealing with wildfire smoke. Here are some symptoms to watch for in the animals in your life who may be sensitive. Stay safe everyone!!

With wildfire smoke creating poor air quality across the U.S, the AVMA is reminding the public that wildfire smoke can pose serious health risks not only to people, but to pets and livestock as well.

Smoke from wildfires contains fine particles that can cause respiratory issues in animals, especially those with pre-existing heart or lung disease. Pet owners should keep a close eye on their animals during poor air quality events and contact their veterinarian if any of the following signs appear. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4wqddp3
