Congratulations to King Dmad student Grace Carter for her poster, postcard, and bookmark design being chosen for an exhibition on The Sign of the George Letterpress that is on the campus of King University.
This project was a collaboration with the E. W. King Library at King University, Karoline Hobock, the DMAD program, David Bonner Winship, and The Sign of the George Letterpress.
The exhibition will be in the E. W. King Library until April 23, 2026. So come and check it out!
More info about the exhibition: The E. W. King Library will showcase printed materials and printing blocks from the Sign of the George Letterpress from March 17 to April 23. On the opening day, there will be an evening reception, featuring talks from David Winship, the director of the Letterpress, and DMAD students who have designed posters for the event. There will be light refreshments available.
Founded in 1973 by Dr. George “Pat” Winship Jr., the Letterpress serves as a unique instructional facility that offers students the opportunity to witness the physical history of typological design. Dr. Winship, a professor of English for over thirty years, began the press to demonstrate the printing technology behind Shakespeare’s sonnets. Starting with borrowed type from a Bristol printshop, he would slowly amass the necessary workings of a letterpress. Today, his son, David Winship, lovingly runs the Letterpress in collaboration with the DMAD program.
