Preparing carbon fiber-reinforced witness panels for quality control testing (per ASTM D3039 and/or ASTM D7565).

Typically, two samples are made at the start of
an 8-hour shift and two more samples are made near the end of the 8-hour shift.

It is best to prepare these samples at the start of a shift using a fresh batch of epoxy and fabric.

Feeler gauges/shims are used to control the thickness of the samples.

The shims are placed along either side of the sample and then a rolling pin is used to flatten the samples.

Inspecting an EPDM roof is important for identifying and addressing any issues before they become major problems.

πŸ‘‰ Examine the surface for any visible damage, such as punctures, cuts, or tears.

πŸ‘‰ Look for signs of ponding water, which can lead to deterioration over time.

πŸ‘‰ Check for debris, dirt, or vegetation growth that should be cleared.
Seams and Flashings:
πŸ‘‰ Inspect seams for signs of separation, peeling, or adhesive failure.

πŸ‘‰ Check flashings, including those around vents, chimneys, and edges, for any issues.
Edge Details:

πŸ‘‰ Ensure that the edge terminations are secure and not pulling away.

πŸ‘‰ Look for any signs of edge metal corrosion or damage.

πŸ‘‰ Inspect any roof penetrations, like pipes and HVAC units, for signs of damage or loose seals.

πŸ‘‰ Check for proper sealant and flashing around penetrations.

πŸ‘‰ Ensure that the EPDM membrane is securely fastened at the roof's perimeter.

🫢 Regular inspections and maintenance can help extend the lifespan of your EPDM roof.
