+ the new techniques require a lot of product, even on just one head of hair. For just one client, I tend to use about 1-3 different tubs of bleach, 1-5 different developers, 1-10 different colors/toners, a TON of foil, and other hair products & tool essentials depending on hair goals, length, density, & type of hair I am working with.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Expenses that come with being an independent stylist include, salon insurance, salon/booth rent (depending on the city/state you’re in, can be more expensive), continued education, licensing fees, booking websites, marketing, taxes (taxes can be VERY expensive especially if you’re a sole proprietor. I personally suggest changing to an LLC), we have to take care of our retirement plan, life insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
