So here is what I just ordered to test out Windows 8.
Of course I got the high end processor, memory and OS so it came out to about $1000. Ships on Dec. 13th so I now I just have to wait.

I might have to charge a small fee if I have to drive more than few miles to pick up just one or 2 computers. Don't worry I'll start reminding everyone as I'm onsite and I can just take the stuff for no charge.

Here's a new virus scam I just ran into. I had a client get a call from a person saying they worked for Microsoft and that their computer had errors and they needed to buy software to fix the problems.
For the record Microsoft does not call people directly and if you get a call like this I would start asking how they got your number. Then install and run Malwarebytes or your up to date antivirus software.

I just got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft, Is this a scam? I just got a phone call from a person with a thick Indian accent saying he was from Microsoft/windos that my computer was sending lots of error messages and he was form the IT solutions department and

People often ask me how I learned all computer stuff I know for work. Like most peoples jobs it's just experience. For example today I setup a computer to connect to a windows domain and copied a user profile over from one user to another. Normally easy stuff, but this time it was in Japanese. At this point for some tasks I don't even need to know what the words say I just recognize the screens.

Once in awhile the work I do is tangible. Here is a server room I organized and setup a new rack.
