I’m absolutely loving this book! Highly recommend if you’re pregnant and planning an unmedicated birth. Disclaimer that it is an older book, so quite a few outdated techniques (ie. drinking alcohol to stop labor, episiotomies, hands-on breech birth, etc) but the birth stories are so amazing to hear!

Breastfeeding beyond 12 months offers soooo many benefits. It continues to provide essential nutrients, supports the child’s immune system, and fosters a strong emotional bond between the mother and child. Extended breastfeeding may also help with supporting your child’s cognitive development and with protection against illness. It’s also a major source of comfort and security for the child as they become more independent and interact with the world. I have been breastfeeding my son for 26 months now. I nursed through my entire pregnancy and he’s now been sharing those amazing benefits of breast milk with his brother for the past 7 months. No matter how hard it gets, how much I want to quit, I always remind myself just how irreplaceable these benefits are! How long did you breastfeed for?

Check in on your friends after they’ve had a baby. Postpartum can be such an isolating time and reminding a new mom that she still matters after putting 100% of her efforts into caring for her new baby can make all the difference. ✨
