Watermark Equine is a boutique four doctor practice specializing in sport horse medicine. We provide year-round service in the Connecticut-New York area and seasonally in Wellington, Florida. We are looking to add another full-time technician to work out of our home base in Ridgefield, CT from April to November and Wellington, FL for the winter.
An ideal applicant should have a keen interest in equine sports medicine. Applicants must be effective communicators, possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong desire to work in a supportive team environment. Previous experience with show hunters, jumpers, and dressage horses would be of value.
Technicians are responsible for handling and jogging horses for evaluation, ensuring appointments run efficiently, managing equipment, and assisting in lab work and pharmacy maintenance. Technicians also perform therapeutic treatments, including laser and shockwave, and will be trained to assist with and perform imaging.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Daily Organizing: Scheduling appointments, coordinating with barn managers to keep workflow efficient and the schedule on track, keeping the pharmacy organized, cleaning and stocking vet trucks daily, maintaining inventory stock list, daily record keeping, and email communication
Handling Horses: Jogging, lunging, bandaging, restraint for procedures, preparation for treatments
Imaging and Therapeutics: Setting up for and assisting in imaging (radiographs, gastroscopies, etc.), performing laser and shockwave treatments
Laboratory Work: processing IRAP and PRP and preparing samples for submission to outside labs
Skills:
At least two years of equine industry experience
An ability to follow directions and remain calm under pressure
Ability to take initiative and work independently when situations allow
Effective time management and excellent attention to detail
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
A foundation in horsemanship and equine anatomy
Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record
