This patient had severe capsular contracture that Dr. Shienbaum corrected via a total capsulectomy. Next, Dr. Shienbuam skillfully crafted a new pocket for her new breast implants. What a difference!
Capsular contracture is a condition that can occur after breast implant surgery, where the scar tissue (capsule) that naturally forms around the implant tightens and hardens. This can cause the breast to feel firm, and in more severe cases, such as this, it may result in pain or changes in appearance, such as distortion or asymmetry. The exact cause of capsular contracture isn’t fully understood, but factors like infection, hematoma, or the body’s natural reaction to the implant can contribute to the development of capsular contracture.
