1 Peter 5:5 God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble..

Pride is the very first sin that was ever committed that caused lucifer to be kicked out of heaven. Its a place in your heart where one tries to be arrogant, self-sufficient and rebellious. Those who insist on elevating themselves and refusing to trust God as sovereign, good and trustworthy will find their way opposed by God.

📖 Psalm 10:4 even tells us that the proud are so consumed with themselves that they make no room for God, all his thoughts are, «there is no God.»

The fact that we are separated from God eternally and the only way to inherit eternal life is through Jesus Christ is a huge stumbling block for prideful people. This is solely due to the fact that pride will make people refuse to repent of their sin and make Jesus the Lord over their life. Prideful people don’t want to be told what to do because they want to be their own god of their own life. This will keep many people from receiving salvation and God will oppose those very people!

Instead, God gives grace to the humble and those who humble themselves before God will find Gods favor. This kind of humility doesn’t de-value yourself or make you look weak but instead it shows your deep recognition and dependence on the Creator. When you submit to God and admit your sins and weaknesses, Jesus responds by pouring out His favor, forgiveness and strength.

Repent and seek the Lord Jesus with a humble and contrite spirit and He will heal you and strengthen you.
