🎓✨ Exposure creates opportunity.

Last week, our students had the incredible opportunity to visit Florida International University (FIU), where they explored campus life, learned about the college experience, and began envisioning what their futures can look like.

At the EJS Project, we believe that when students can see what’s possible, they begin to believe it’s possible for themselves. Every college visit opens doors, sparks new dreams, and reminds our youth that higher education is within reach.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible. Here’s a look back at an unforgettable day!

"Everyone deserves the chance to defend themselves, no matter their background, race, or financial situation."

In her Young Legislators Program application speech, Jahzara notes that justice should not depend on financial status. Without the right to counsel, only those who can afford it would have a fair chance.

Jahzara’s analysis of the 6th Amendment, which grants the right to a speedy trial, a public trial, and legal representation, shows how our programs build young leaders who can understand and advocate for their rights.

Support Jahzara and her peers as they prepare for their capstone trip to Memphis and Atlanta. There, they will gain invaluable experience, connections, and opportunities for personal growth.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

As Emanuel “Dupree” Jackson accepted the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Award at the 59th Annual NEA Human & Civil Rights Awards Dinner, he reminded us that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about service, sacrifice, and creating opportunities for others.

His words reflect the mission that has guided the EJS Project from day one: building and empowering tomorrow’s leaders.
Take a moment to listen to his message. We hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us.

Take a moment to listen to his powerful words, and if his message inspires you, leave him a message of congratulations in the comments. ❤️

One of the most powerful moments from a previous Young Legislators Program capstone experience didn't happen in a classroom.

After learning about the humanitarian crisis in Syria and engaging with leaders like Ambassador Stephen Rapp and Humanitarian Leader Mouaz Moustafa, who are working in human rights and international justice, students were invited to reflect on what they had heard.

Their response?

They wrote letters of hope to young people in Syria.

Moments like these remind us that leadership is about more than understanding policy or government.

It's about empathy. It's about opportunities to recognize our shared humanity and understanding that the challenges facing people around the world are not as distant as they may seem.

Through experiences like these, students learn to think critically, engage thoughtfully, and see themselves as citizens of a larger world.

That's what makes the Young Legislators Program different.

If you're ready to support experiences like this, please consider making a financial contribution.
