Boulder Fire-Rescue has crews deployed to the Aspen Acres Fire near Rye, CO and to the El Dorado National Forest in CA. Boulder Fire-Rescue deployed a Type 6 wildland brush truck and a crew of three firefighters to the Aspen Acres Fire for an initial 72-hour assignment. The department also deployed a Task Force Leader as a single resource to support incident management operations on the same fire.
A crew of four, with a Type 3 wildland brush truck, was deployed on June 21 to California. Their two-week deployment will end on July 5, and another crew is planning on taking their place. Boulder Fire-Rescue anticipates continuing to send qualified personnel to support wildfire operations in the region as resource requests are received.

Me: "Can I light fireworks in the City of Boulder?"
Fire Marshal: "No."
Me: "...Not even the small ones?"
That look says it all.
Here's the thing—you already know the answer, too. Fireworks are illegal in the City of Boulder, and even the "small" ones can spark a fire that spreads quickly in this hot, dry, windy weather.
Skip the fireworks. Protect your neighbors, open space, and our community. Celebrate safely this holiday weekend and leave the fireworks to the professionals.

A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM XCEL ENERGY - please do not call 911 because of the odor unless there is an injury or illness involved. # # #
We are aware that some customers in the Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette and Eldorado Springs areas may be noticing a strong natural gas odor.
The odor is related to scheduled maintenance work at one of our facilities, which involved the removal of equipment used to add odorant (known as mercaptan) to natural gas. During transport, residual odorant was released and carried by the wind into nearby communities.
Please note there is no active natural gas leak and no safety hazard to the public. Crews are on-site working to contain remaining materials, and we expect that effort to be completed this evening, although some residual odor may linger for a short time.
We understand this can be concerning and appreciate our customers’ patience as we complete this work safely.

If you are noticing a gas odor in the eastern Boulder area, it could be the result of this! Do not call 911 to report the order unless you have an injury, illness or issue as a result of it. Thank you.
