Today, we recognize the EMS staff, firefighter-paramedics and firefighter-EMTs of Boulder Fire-Rescue for their dedication to serving the Boulder community.
While many people know firefighters for responding to fires, the majority of calls our crews respond to are medical emergencies. Medical emergencies can happen at any time, anywhere — so our crews train constantly to be ready for them.
At Boulder Fire-Rescue, EMS training is an ongoing commitment and a critical part of our mission every day. From advanced cardiac care and trauma response to pediatric emergencies and technical rescues, our firefighters continuously sharpen their skills to provide high-quality care in the field.
Behind every emergency response is a team committed to learning, improving, and serving the community. Thank you to our firefighters and EMS staff for the excellent care you bring to every call for service, everyday. Boulder is stronger because of you.

Today’s sentencing related to the Boulder Attack marks an important step forward for our community. We are grateful for the diligence and coordination shown by investigators, prosecutors, and all those who worked tirelessly to get to this point. Accountability matters and so does justice for the victims and our community.
I want to recognize the men and women who responded that day—especially our firefighters—who went in without hesitation, facing an unknown, evolving, and dangerous situation. They encountered victims with severe injuries including significant burns, and immediately shifted into lifesaving mode. Within 6 minutes, the first fire paramedic was on scene treating patients with advanced lifesaving care and incident command was coordinating with ground and air resources for transportation. I want to acknowledge the critical role of medical care in this response. From the initial treatment on scene to the care provided at our regional hospitals, the dedicated continuum of care made a meaningful difference for those impacted. The actions of our first responders on this day reflect the very best of public service.
Our thoughts remain with the victims, and everyone affected by this horrific event. As I like to remind my firefighters everyday as they process through difficult calls and trauma, we are strongest together - let us lean on each other to work through the physical and emotional toll of this incident.
