The Track Fest is next weekend, and 2x Olympian is dialing in for one final steeplechase workouts before race day.

The session combined 800 meter repeats over hurdles, flat 300 meter speed reps, and water jump practice to sharpen rhythm, efficiency, and race-specific speed. Val closed her final three 300s in 51, 50, and 48 seconds, then capped the workout with a 2:22 over hurdles for her fastest 800m rep of the day.

Using Stryd throughout, Val tracks power, efficiency, and workout ex*****on as training intensity ramps up heading into championship season.

3 days to Boston. The data is trending in the right direction.

final simulation workout was built to mirror the mile for mile. Fast downhills early atop Neva Road in Boulder, grinding rolling hills late, just like Boston’s opening descent into the Newton climbs.

Leg Spring Stiffness held from 9.8 to 9.2 kN/m across the session, well above his race the week before. Power steady. Balance stable. Durability all the way through.

Goal for Monday: 66 through halfway. Under 67 to finish. 2:12-2:13.

The fitness is there. The legs are ready.

Watch episode 3 for the full workout breakdown on the Stryd YouTube channel (link in bio) and tune in Monday to cheer Charlie on!

The On the Laces series takes you inside the training, data, and decision behind elite runners with Stryd.

In Episode 1, we follow 100K American Record holder and 50-mile world record holder Charlie Lawrence as he begins his Boston Marathon training, preparing for his first marathon after a series of ultra races before returning to ultra training for the Comrades Marathon in June. Eleven weeks out, Charlie heads to Rollinsville, CO (8,669 ft) to simulate the Boston Marathon course with a 21-mile long run.

Using Stryd throughout his marathon build, Charlie tracks power across various conditions while leveraging Leg Spring Stiffness (LSS) to maintain late-race pop and Impact Loading Rate (ILR) to manage downhill impact. As he builds speed with VO2 max and marathon-specific workouts, he balances performance with durability, managing an Achilles issue and post-100K glute tightness, while using Stryd to turn effort into progress.

This is the first step in Charlie’s build to the Boston Marathon. Visit the Stryd YouTube channel to follow the series and catch Episode 2.

This Weekend: 280+ Miles Through Death Valley for A Record Attempt. We'll Have the Data.

Right now, Project Stella — a team of six elite female runners — is racing 280+ miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in The Speed Project, a relay race that runs straight through Death Valley. They're going after the all-women's record: 33 hours and 13 minutes.

The conditions are brutal. Daytime temps above 95°F. Overnight lows that plummet. The terrain shifts from paved highway to sand to gravel to unmarked desert trails — sometimes within a single leg.

The team has the firepower to do it.

What's coming from us:

Each athlete will be wearing Stryd to track power output, fatigue, and more.

After the race, we're breaking down their full race strategy with Stryd data — how conditions impacted effort, when fatigue sets in, and what it actually takes to pace a relay through Death Valley.

Why that matters:

Across terrain this unpredictable, pace means almost nothing. Wind, sand, elevation, heat — all of it distorts the picture.

Fatigue compounds that further. The same runner will produce different numbers early in the race versus late. Stryd captures that change — so we can show you exactly how the team’s effort and output evolved across the full 280+ miles.

For now, follow the action live on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/prjct.stella

And follow along Stryd on Instagram for more insights. https://www.instagram.com/strydrunning/

We'll bring you the full story. Stay tuned.
