I originally hail from the Pacific Northwest, and the sights and smells of dank tangled forest draped around snow-capped volcanoes that are threaded with powerful rivers still feels like home to me, though at this point I have not lived there for most of my life. One Season Following Another
The last flotilla of clouds from the far-flung arm of a Pacific hurricane lap against the high elevation ridges and peaks of the northwest San Juan Mountains from the vantage of the Dallas Divide near Ridgway, Colorado. The summit of Mount Sneffels (14,153 ft; 4,314 m) rises into the dying light to bask in the longest rays, its craggy face shaped and wizened by tens of thousands of winters.
