Happy Pride Month, Bothell! Each June, the City of Bothell recognizes and celebrates our Two-Spirit, Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Intersex, and Asexual (2SLGBTQIA+) community members, including families, friends, neighbors, and businesses. Hereโs whatโs happening this month:
๐ Join us for Pride in the Park on Saturday, June 13, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Park at Bothell Landing. This free, family-friendly event will have activities for all ages, including music, crafts, resources, and more. Special thanks to Make Apothecary, Cheryl Smith Mosaics, Eastside Pride PNW, PFLAG Bellevue/Eastside, and Pride Across the Bridge for helping make this celebration possible.
๐ The City Council will share the 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride Month proclamation at the June 2 Council meeting. All are welcome to attend as Pride Month is formally recognized and celebrated in Bothell.
๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Pride flags are up at City Hall and other facilities and will fly throughout the month of June.
While Pride Month is one form of representation, the City is committed to inclusion and equality for all, all year long. As the City Council's 2040 Vision states, "Bothell has a responsive government that is open to everyone. We purposefully build trust by listening, incorporating feedback, and fostering a participation-minded community. Our city recognizes and celebrates all that makes us unique, including our rich tapestry of ethnicities, religious beliefs, gender identities, sexual orientations, nationalities, neurodiversity, age, and life experiences. All are heard and respected here.โ

Bothell, let's talk weeds. Invasive weeds.
Himalayan blackberry, hedge bindweed, tansy ragwort, and spotted knapweed might have fun names, but each can cause real problems in our yards, neighborhoods, and natural areas. They all have three things in common:
โ They spread fast, especially in summer.
โ They crowd out native plants and disrupt local ecosystems.
โ Now is the best time to pull them, before they go to seed.
Once these weeds bloom, theyโre only weeks away from producing tiny seeds that can lead to not-so-tiny problems. Removing them now helps protect pollinators (like bees) and native plants, reduces the need for herbicides, and helps prevent future infestations. Your yard, your neighbors, and local wildlife will thank you later.
Check out this blog post from our partners at King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks to learn how to identify these weeds and remove them from your yard: https://bit.ly/SummerWeedsToWatchFor
