2 months on the road.
15 cities.
12 performances.
A Bar Mitzvah and Passover , and a very special sabbath weekend ritual rolled in, culminating with a Red Sox game today.
Drum lessons and music, loads of music.
Sitting in and with nature and all the conversations that this world demands of us.
Just a word to encapsulate it all for now-
AWE.
Daily practice:
1. Place feet in the grass.
2. Gratitude - People landed safely from the moon. I mean…?!!
I know, I fancy myself now some kind of field reporter- but I couldn’t help my self.
I wound up in Mt Sterling, Ohio, literally off the beaten path, searching to fill my tank, gas and belly. And found Two Hands coffee shop. Kim, lovely woman in charge, had her crafts and tea elixirs humbly on display while her kids served me a great cup of coffee with care and more than polite conversation.
They are being home schooled here in this very coffee shop, learning life skills aplenty.
This small community anchors itself she said around this gathering hole, which was the inception behind this shop.
We talked parenting- i was careful but curious, as I asked about aspirations for college- none the 3 kids assured me quickly. I asked about the progressive values I saw advertised, and gently inquired if they knew of RBG. Kim was careful but warm, and after the kids listened to their mom’s recap of what RBG was known for, they told me about a woman they found similar, Eleanor of Aquitaine, a medieval figure ahead of her time whom they’d just explored for a school project.
Same room many doors? A step perhaps in listening and talking with others we may not agree with.
