Meet Alvin, a sweet boy who arrived from a rural shelter severely underweight and heartworm positive, appearing to have come from a hoarding situation that left him understandably shy and uncertain of the world. But once Alvin felt safe, he opened up in the most beautiful way — revealing a dog who is a devoted snuggler, an eager pleaser, and genuinely one of the smartest boys we have had the pleasure of working with. He picked up house manners and basic commands with almost no effort at all, and he has thrived in his foster home alongside three other dogs and cats, proving himself to be an easy, adaptable, and deeply loving companion. The best news of all — he has fully recovered from his heartworm treatment and is ready to find a home of his own.

Alvin's future family can expect a gentle, grateful, and affectionate dog who will bond deeply and love quietly but wholeheartedly. He does best in a calm environment and can be a little hesitant around young children, so a home with older kids or adults would suit him well. He has already done the hard work of healing — now he just needs someone to give him the soft, settled life he has more than earned.
