Did you know the official motto of the Boston Harbor Islands is, “Minutes away, worlds apart”? This slogan accurately represents how the serene Harbor Islands feel completely removed from the bustling city life of Boston, while maintaining their convenient proximity to the mainland.

🏫Cathedral High School was a new partnership this year! Our Cathedral program was for 7th and 8th graders, and took place during the school day, once a month for each grade. Dozens of students went on rock climbing, disc golf (with volunteers from NABA Suffolk Student Chapter), cross-country and downhill skiing, ice skating, and fishing trips!⛸️🥏

Thank-you to the Cathedral students and staff for welcoming us into their community!

It's World Ocean Day!

While we're out exploring the tide pools and salt marshes in Boston Harbor, youth catch a ton of green crabs. This invasive species has a bigger impact than their small size - they are top competitors for Dungeness crabs and other crustaceans, and destroy eel grass, which is important for fish to lay eggs.

Recently, fisheries have been considering them as possible culinary delights! Though they have a small amount of meat, their flavor packs a punch.
