From oak to bamboo plywood to plastic used in 3D printing, Northeastern student Amartya Bhattacharya studied the properties of 17 materials to see if they could come close to the Honduras rosewood preferred in marimbas.
His goal: finding an alternative material to make the instrument more accessible.

There's rich history behind the Chinese lion-dogs that sit outside Northeastern University - Oakland's art museum.
Brought to America by William D. McCann, a prolific collector of ancient Chinese art, and delivered to the Oakland campus in 1933, the statues serve as a protective force for the museum.
