Welcome back! As a follow up to my preview of Counterpoint Festival, my BASS BLAST this week is going to be focusing in on artists playing at the event. It’s only a month away, so grab these songs and play them out as you gear up for a crazy musical experience!
1. Excision, Downlink – Crowd Control (Delta Heavy Remix)
Excision’s X-***ed album was a huge success the US Dubstep scene, and due to that, he is releasing an album with remixes of all the tunes in September with some big name artists from across multiple genres of EDM. As a teaser though, he released the Crowd Control remixes (the other being Pixel Fist), and they are just INTENSE! Expect him to be playing the unreleased mixes in his set…and for your face to be melted by the end of it.
2. Zeds Dead & Omar Linx – Cowboy
After headlining festivals and parties around the world, Zeds Dead have also made a big leap into US Dubstep. Their latest EP features 4 tracks with their boy Omar (first featured in ZD’s track ‘Out For Blood’), all of them grimy and womp heavy as you’d expect from the duo. This track most recently was chosen as a track for a Beatport remix competition, so get familiar with this track as you’ll be seeing plenty of remixes dropping online within the next month before Counterpoint arrives.
3. Adventure Club – Retro City
We featured a remix of their single ‘Wait’ a few weeks ago, and this time we bring their newest single to the table. This is definitely another step away from their more melodic sound that first hooked everyone on their act. It’s definitely one that will be getting the crowd riled up, being a much harder sound. You should expect to hear this one.
4. Feed Me – Little Cat Steps
Shifting away from the dubstep, we have Feed Me with a brand new single this week. Last we got from him was an EP in February off Mau5trap, so it’s good to finally be getting new stuff. This electro heavy song feeds in to his style perfectly, and the excellent build up is sure to bring the energy up in the crowd. Hopefully we’ll hear more from him soon, be sure to check him out when you’re at Counterpoint in case he drops some unreleased tunes.
5. Bassnectar & Lupe Fiasco - Vava Voom (Bassnectar Remix)
Ending off with the main headliner himself. If you are going to a festival that is focused on bass heavy music, look no further than this guy. This trap style remix of his track from his latest album is definitely not what we would expect from him, but that doesn’t take away from how awesome the track is. Trap has gained an unprecedented amount of hype this summer, so with Bassnectar tossing this in his set, he’s sure to get some crazy reactions. There is no reason not to see this legend perform at Counterpoint, even if you have seen him before.
And there you have it! This is just a small preview of the bass heavy side of the festival. I could go on and list tracks by some of the house acts, but that probably wouldn’t matter all that much to our readers. Make sure to catch these acts and much more in a little over a month! We’ll definitely be squeezing in another article before then on the festival though, so stay tuned :D
