Student Internship
An environmental chemistry laboratory studying environmental issues relating to livestock operations is seeking a student to fill a summer internship position characterizing methanogenic communities in swine manure. The position is at the National Laboratory for Agricultural and the Environment (NLAE) and the position is with the USDA ARS (Agriculture Research Service). The internship training involves the following: 1) indexing manure methane emission potential; 2) characterizing the methanogenic community substrate utilization pattern; and 3) testing methanogenic community response to various treatments strategies. Perspective applicants should have a background in chemistry or physical sciences. If the internship is successful, the position may be extended into March 2014. Pay is approximately $9.74/hr.
