After 8 seasons, I’ve made the difficult decision to retire from professional soccer.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think soccer would take a skinny Jewish kid on such an incredible ride. From playing on one of the best club teams in Maryland youth soccer history, to winning a Division 1 National Championship in my freshman year of college to playing halfway across the world, and eventually returning to the US to compete with two MLS organizations – this game has given me experiences I could never have dreamed of.
Soccer has given me some of the best moments of my life, from celebrating wins with teammates who became more like family to forming deep, lasting friendships along the way. It’s also brought some tough times, with painful losses, heartbreak, and moments of loneliness that made the journey harder. But looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every high and low has taught me valuable lessons and helped shape who I am today. I’ll always be grateful for the growth this game has brought me.
None of this would’ve been possible without the incredible people I’ve crossed paths with along the way. To my teammates, coaches, friends, and family – thank you for being a part of this journey. You’ve made this experience truly unforgettable.
Lastly, as many of you know, the decision to retire has not been easy. Leaving behind something you’ve loved your entire life is never simple. One of the best things I did during this process was connect with others who have gone through (or are going through) the same thing. If you’re a player or athlete struggling with this decision or the transition, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you, soccer.
