Finishing the final set of the night, he shoved the violin into a leather valise. The bow was too long, preventing it from closing shut, so he abandoned it on the deck and threw the bag over his shoulders. He could always get a new bow back home—if he survives the night.

Another summer’s end 🪄

Building is both a verb and a noun. Yet, the building is now gone. What’s the opposite of verb? The opposite of noun? Sometimes it’s in the name of progress; other times it’s in the name of nature taking over again. We had our turn. Our time is up. All of recorded history is in the liminal space between catastrophe and rebuilding / rebuilding and catastrophe. My fortune cookie was empty, so I asked for a new one: It told love has no boundaries, yet speaks many dialects. I left content.

A select cohort of students attending and participated in the mini course entitled “…and the pursuit of Happiness.” This course explored various theories of happiness and government policies designed to promote happiness for its citizens. The capstone assignment was for participants to identify their own definition of happiness and create a plan for pursuing it. This is a summary of their responses 🌟

There were things I didn’t know I didn’t know, but if I had learned anything, I knew there were questions that were not even on my radar yet.
