Glance inside the mind of artist Daniel Callahan in ‘Come On In – Live’ - The Bay State Banner A dusty Sony boombox. A pile of books. An easel. A brown coat rack. A stack of cassette tapes. These are the contents of multidisciplinary artist Daniel Callahan’s mind. Or, at least, the way he will soon visualize them on stage.

As Black History Month draws to a close, we honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose courage, vision, and unwavering commitment to justice continue to inspire generations. Dr. King's profound impact on the civil rights movement and his impassioned calls for equality and freedom have left an indelible mark on history. His message of hope, resilience, and nonviolent resistance resonates deeply with the creation of "Come On In - Live."
In crafting this transformative theatrical experience, Daniel drew inspiration from Dr. King's tireless advocacy for social change and his unwavering belief in the power of love and solidarity to overcome injustice. Dr. King's teachings serve as a guiding light, reminding us of the importance of standing up against oppression, fostering empathy and understanding, and striving for a more equitable and inclusive society.
As we reflect on Dr. King's enduring legacy, we are reminded of the ongoing struggle for justice and equality, and the urgent need to continue his work. "Come On In - Live" serves as a tribute to Dr. King's vision and a testament to the transformative power of art in igniting social change and fostering healing and connection. Today, we honor Dr. King's memory and recommit ourselves to the pursuit of his dream of a beloved community where all are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Written and starring Boston's own Daniel Callahan, and directed by the talented Iona Morris Jackson, this will be an experience you don't want to miss.
