June 2nd, Evening Message from Ms. Cruz
Dear Families,
I am reaching out tonight in hopes that the Adams Community feels supported and well held during this time in our country. I know that we all have very different experiences and it is important to know that we are a community that strives to ensure that all members feel valued and cared for.
After struggling to find words with my own 9 and 6 year old and navigating ways to engage them in an important conversation about racism, I had to root myself in my commitments. As a mother, I am committed to lead my family through love for others. As an educator, I am committed to lead our school through empowerment and most importantly, love for one another.
Although our children are young, they may be very aware of what is happening in our country. It is important for us as adults to stand up to the injustice and have age-appropriate discussions with our children about these events and issues of inequity. We wanted to provide families with some articles that may support conversations at home in developmentally appropriate ways.
Talking to Children about Racial Bias (Healthy Children.org)
10 Tips for Talking to your Children about Race (Embracerace.org)
What do we tell our Children? (USA Today)
How Parents Can use Media to Raise Anti-Racist Kids.. (Common Sense Media)
Please reach out to any of us at the Adams if you have questions or need support in talking with your children.
As always, I am here to listen- to your hopes, your concerns, and your ideas for how we continue to grow and move forward as a school and as a community during this difficult time... and always.
On Wednesday, June 3rd at 5:00 pm, we will have the time and space to discuss what is happening in our School, our City and our Country at our next Equity Round Table.
Wishing you all health, healing and peace.
In solidarity with our community,
Joanna Cruz

Dear Adams Families,
The past few days have been filled with many emotions, some good and some bad. As a school community, we can be proud of how much solidarity and mutual awareness the Adams has for one another. Thank you all for that feeling.
We have some updates:
We want to invite all families to BPS’ Parent University. The next session will be about Telehealth: Accessing Support From Home. The Spanish Session is on June 2nd, from 6 to 8 pm. The English Session is on June 9th, from 6 to 8 pm.

Our next Equity Round Table will be lead on Wednesday, June 3rd, from 5 pm to 6 pm. The goal of this meeting is to ensure that we are providing equitable access, and opportunity all students at the Adams during school closure.
We are still waiting for the exact last day of school. We are planning a “moving up” week where students will meet next years teachers as well as some fun end of year celebrations. More information will come next week.
About the P-EBT cards:
Massachusets Departament of Education, the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and Project Bread are currently sending additional funds for all BPS students during COVID-19.
If you already have the EBT card, you will find the additional funds on the card.
You will receive information in two phases:
First, families will receive a letter explaining the P-EBT program, including the Case Number. Please save the letter or take a picture of it, because the information on it will be needed to activate the P-EBT card.
With the letter there is an information flyer, keep the flyer. On it is important information you may need later.
We thank you for all that you do. Have a restful weekend.
