I am at a point in my life where I am laser focused on my mental health and substance recovery journey as well as giving back to the community/doing peer recovery work and fundraising. Another one of my addictions is to social media and my phone, it makes me usually feel stressed and upset. It’s unhealthy. Just want to let my friends and family here know that I’m not quitting music (in fact the opposite), I am feeling better than ever in my life and I didn’t block anyone. Tomorrow night I will be deactivating or pausing all of my accounts. I will be reachable by call and text on my personal phone a few hours a day - otherwise the personal phone is off.
Check out Cal Newport and his books Digital Minimalism, Slow Productivity and Deep Work if you want more information about why and how it’s important. Ask for my number if you want to stay in touch but don’t have it - it changed last year. Love ya!

What a pleasure it was to have improv lead guitar with me on my original Joy Unknown! A man named Nick came by to listen and we got to talking about his tattoo in memory of his mother, Cynthia, who has passed. He tells me that after she passed, he didn’t want to live anymore and still feels that way years later. I told him that I can relate to that feeling of wanting to give up. I asked if I could play a song for his mother. And so I chose this one, which is very special, about the joys we take for granted while stuck fighting in the trenches of life, like the kiss of a lover, a hug from a mother, and words of wisdom strangers, the milk of moonlight. How great is it to be alive. Wishing Nick all the best in his life and recovery. Love you man. Love that grows through storm and darkness is priceless. Love is everything.
