🌎 Last month, Ujima had the opportunity to table at Wake Up the Earth in Jamaica Plain!
The first Wake Up the Earth took place in 1979. It was a celebration of the land and community that fought for the South-West Corridor to not turn into a highway, but be used for community. The festival continues to bring together neighbors, community members, grassroots organizations, cultural workers and many more to remind us that another Boston can always be made possible!
We are so grateful to continue to table and see our members, supporters, and those curious about the work we do! And special thanks to the volunteers that held it down!

🎨 The School for Uncommon Practice is a member-focused art space, facilitated by Ujima community members to extend their artistic skills and practices back into our communities.
Were looking for facilitators who are excited about engaging participants in hands-on artistic practices that offer collective learning opportunities that are free and accessible to our BIPOC and working class communities.
We are looking for facilitators who are:
✅ Organized and available to lead up to 2 consecutive sessions
✅ Interested in teaching hands on artmaking practices
✅ Excited about creating a space for deep engagement and collective study
