From left to right:

🩵 Jeffy • Janey • Jimmy (top) • Joey • Franklin • Eleanor

Don’t see them on our website yet? That’s because they’re still waiting to settle in with their foster families! We like to wait until we have updated photos and a better feel for each puppy’s personality and needs before posting their bios.

If one has already stolen your heart, you don’t have to wait. You can submit an adoption application anytime:

My name is Sydney Fitzpatrick, and I’m the founder and director of Big Wave Dog Rescue. My small but hardworking team and I started the rescue in 2023, but my story with this community started long before that.

I’ve called Billerica home since I was three years old. I grew up here, went through Billerica Public Schools, and now I have the privilege of teaching elementary PE here. This town helped shape who I am. The teachers, coaches, families, neighbors, and mentors I had growing up taught me the importance of kindness, hard work, and giving back. Those values are a big part of why Big Wave exists today.

Now, getting to work in the same school district that helped raise me is something I never take for granted. Every day I get to work alongside incredible educators who genuinely care about kids, and I get to see firsthand how compassionate, thoughtful, and kind our students are becoming.

So yesterday, when I opened my mail, I honestly had to read the letter twice.

Inside was a letter from the Cyril D. Locke Middle School letting us know that Big Wave Dog Rescue had been chosen as the recipient of the proceeds from this year’s annual Turkey Toss fundraiser. Along with the letter was a check for $1,000, and I was completely blown away.

If you don’t know much about animal rescue, it’s hard. Vet bills are expensive. Transport is expensive. Food, supplies, medications… it all adds up fast. The truth is, adoption fees alone barely cover what it costs to save these animals. Donations like this are what allow us to keep saying yes to the next dog that needs help.

A huge thank you to Michelle Wells and Patty Higgins for organizing this incredible event and choosing Big Wave Dog Rescue as this year’s recipient. And thank you to the amazing students, staff, families, and the entire Locke Middle School community who made this donation possible. We are truly honored that you chose our rescue, and your generosity is going to make a real difference for the dogs in our care.

It only felt right that our newest intake has officially been named Locke in honor of the school. We can’t wait for you to follow his journey and cheer him on as he finds his forever family.

On behalf of our entire team at Big Wave Dog Rescue, thank you. Your support means more than you’ll ever know. It isn’t just a donation. It’s a reminder that this community continues to show up for others, and I’m incredibly proud to call Billerica home. šŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ¾

Bob in three acts:

1. ā€œLove me.ā€
2. ā€œDon’t look at me.ā€
3. ā€œActually… love me again.ā€

We LOVE BOB. Someone adopt him before our team at big wave files the adoption papers ourselves and share custody of him.
