If kids look up to me one day I want them to know that I spent my time and money to travel the world, learn about new cultures, meet new people and have experiences that I can build a musical career around. A gold chain might feel good around my neck, but what does it really represent? Every one of my necklaces tells a story - some of them unexpected like the Egyptian Ankh I got in Korea or jade Guatemalan mask I got in New Orleans. As Black people, we've been sold on the dream of looking rich because actually becoming wealthy seems out of reach. But I feel like the richest man in the world when I think about the amazing coastline of Croatia or visiting the Amazonian rainforest. I value the partnership I have with Govan because they agree that we should be able to show our true selves and not accept what society puts in front of us. ​​​​​​​​
