Can you control your emotions enough to not be offended? is it hard, it can be. Is it helpful, it's everything.

My marriage improved when I stopped assuming the worst about my wife’s intentions.

Here’s what I learned:

1) Assumptions breed defensiveness. I used to think my wife was trying to criticize me, but she just wanted to feel understood. When I stopped assuming the worst, I could actually hear her needs.

2) Listen all the way through. I used to get defensive before she even finished talking, but now I listen fully. This shift alone turned our arguments into meaningful conversations.

3) Ask clarifying questions. Instead of shutting down, I now ask questions to make sure I’m hearing her right. Once I realized she wasn’t out to hurt me but to connect, our relationship transformed.
